The first robot I ever built, back in 2009, the time when I was convinced that an Arduino, a breadboard, a couple of motors and a bunch of electronic components were all it took to build a robot that can do anything I want it to do, and that understanding how they can be used individually could unlock the world of robotics. I was wrong, but I learnt a lot from this project. I learnt about AVR microcontrollers(on Arduino Diecimila and Duemilanove), I learnt about GPIO pins, analog and digital signals, logic gates, PWM, resistors, capacitors, breadboards, soldering, servos and batteries. It was when I first saw code for PID control and did not understand why it worked. After the project I realised that I need to learn a lot more to make the kind of robots I imagined.
